Shattering Stigma - The facts of mental illness

This design was generated by Zepf’s Stacy Spinazze. The mirrored bars represent that 1 in 25 people experience a serious mental illness each year . The gold circles indicate that 1 in 5 will experience a mental illness each year. The blue background is symbolic of those with mental illness piecing their lives together, working from the darkness to the light. The multi-colored section shows the variety of mental health diagnoses. The mirror also symbolizes that each one of us needs to reflect on how we approach mental illness, whether within ourself or our family members and/or friends .

This mural will also have an interactive feature with 3D printed QR codes printed and placed within the mural. The QR codes will take the viewer to information on mental illness. This mural will be installed at the corner of Perry and North St. Clair streets, across from the Mud Hens Stadium. The mural will be in a “walkable” part of Toledo and give the viewer an opportunity to interact with this piece in an up-close, personal manner. In fact, the mural will be installed next to a serving window for a new restaurant.
